New Staff: Tom Thorpe, Comms Officer

Tom has joined Wheelworks Arts as the new Comms Officer. He is also a professional communicator, being a member of the Chartered Institute of Public Relations and previously having a 25 year career in media relations, public policy development, lobbying and digital communications. Tom is also a member of the Chartered Institute of Public Relations.

 He is also a qualified tour guide, public historian and podcaster and currently presents and produces two history podcasts: the Combat Morale Podcast and Mentioned in Dispatches for the history society, the Western Front Association. Combined with this, he is a certified Green Badge Tour Guide, an affiliate of the Institute of Tourist Guiding, is also a member of the Northern Ireland Tourist Guide Association and runs the Anti Slavery Belfast Tour.

 Originally from London, Tom moved to Belfast to get married in 2014. He is a published historian, holds a PhD in history from King’s College London and has been involved in local Belfast history projects such as The Men Behind the Glass at Campbell College Belfast and Epidemic Belfast medical history project run by Ulster University.
