Getting into film…

WheelWorks Arts is at the Liffey Trust Studios on 24 June 2023 to help run a workshop on rotoscoping an early animation technique that dates from the First World War. This technique still plays a large role in modern cinema today.

In this 2-hour workshop the young participants will be encouraged to explore different approaches to develop their own unique rotoscoping style.

It will enable the young people to produce their own short video clip and then blend it with animation and live action. Using iPads and applying this Rotoscoping technique i.e., animation and visual effects they will create realistic and detailed motion by tracing over live-action footage they film.

Exploring with this technique is endless, as they can turn it into a short animation with realistic movements, they can also place themselves into an animated environment or add superhero special effects into their own created clips, the possibilities are limitless.

This Workshop is for participants aged 8 to 12 and is being held at the Liffey Trust Studios, 117-126 Upper Sheriff Street, Dublin 1.

This event is part of Cinemagic Dublin 2023.
