In 2021 the ChillCart partnered with Connswater Homes to facilitate an 8-week good relations bonding project with 14 young people aged between 11-14 years old living in the Newtownabbey area.

The project worked with local young people onboard the ChillCart in the area where they live, providing a safe and inclusive space for the young people to socialise over some shared treats and hot chocolate. The sessions involved creative art-based workshops facilitated by a WheelWorks professional artist and a Youth Engagement Officer to engage the young people in conversations around shared space, friendship, respect, and diversity. At this time when the young people were facing sectarian tensions and anti-social behaviour within their neighbourhood, this project acted as a means for intervention and provided a safe space to listen to the young people and help to cultivate healthier relations for shared space in their area.
